It’s Great to "Bee" in 5th Grade

Welcome to Mrs. Matacotta and Ms. Bagheri’s 5th grade class at Addison Elementary. Let’s get acquainted.

I, Mrs. Matacotta was born and raised in Long Island, New York. I received my Bachelor’s degree at West Virginia University and my Master’s degree at the University of South Carolina. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade and EIP (Early Intervention Program) in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

I am married to Col. Ernest Matacotta of the USMC and have two wonderful children, Anthony and Christina. I am also the proud owner of a great yellow lab named Dixie. We live in Marietta and spend many fun-filled weekends at our lake house in Weiss Lake, Alabama.

Being a teacher, is what I have wanted to do since I was a little girl. I thoroughly enjoy my career and love working with children. Making my students feel loved, valued, and accepted in my class, as well as, ensuring they learn the curriculum, are my goals for each year. In addition, I encourage them to go beyond expectations and to always put forth their best effort. I believe if the student, teacher, and family all work together there is no limit to what we can achieve.
